FILLER

Dermal filler is a type of injectable, consisting of a soft, gel-like substance, made primarily from Hyaluronic Acid. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps the skin look plump and hydrated. As we age, our natural supply of HA is depleted over time. Dermal fillers that contain HA may be used to smooth lines, replenish lost volume, and restore skin to a more youthful appearance. It can also be used to lift cheeks, contour the face, and fill or enlarge the lips.

Effects of filler can be seen immediately to several weeks following the treatment.  Swelling, bruising, and soreness at injection site can last 2 weeks post-injection. Filler can last anywhere from 6-24 months, depending on the filler used and site of injection.

CHEEK

As we age, volume loss contributes to sagging skin and more prominent lines. Adding filler to your cheeks or mid face restores shape to the face, giving the appearance of higher cheekbones, lifting the skin, andproviding youthful contour in the mid-face, restoring volume, and yielding a refreshed look. Adding volume to the cheekbones raises your lower face and reduces marionette lines and nasolabial folds

CHIN

Create an elongated jawline or add projection while maintaining the natural feel and contour of the chin. This provides a stronger jawline to help balance the lower face. It also supports the jowls, preventing frowning of the lip muscles. Combining this treatment with cheek and jaw filler creates the desirable heart-shape face appearance. A well-defined jaw can be the foundation of a balanced face, an attractive profile, and a youthful look.

JAW

Using filler to sharpen your jawline, creates a tight and defined look, also known as a "snatched" jawline of their lower face, providing the illusional of a slimmer face, while enhancing the natural contours of your bone structure. It also reduces the effects of age-related volume loss in the lower face, adding proportion to the chin, and providing a strong foundation and frame for the face.

NLF/MARIONETTES

To help with the lines caused by repetitive facial expressions that extend from the corners of your nose and mouth, as well as lines that run vertical from the outer corner of your mouth down to your jawline, fillers can replenish the lost volume, filling and smoothing the same lines that are caused by age-related volume depletion in the face due to a loss in collagen and elastin over time.

HANDS

Just like our face, our hands can and reveal our age even if everything else is wrinkle-free! Filler in this area will decrease fine lines and increase volume loss.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does Filler work?

Filler is used to remove wrinkles and fine lines and to enhance the shape of a face without surgery. It's quick, easy and painless, with little recovery time.

Filler works in two ways. Some filler (primarily those made of hyaluronic acid) is used to add volume to the skin tissue. Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the body, so it is a safe substance. It enters the surrounding skin and fills them with moisture, enhancing volume and also smoothing fine lines. Other kinds of filler work by stimulating the growth of collagen in skin cells. Collagen is also naturally occurring, but production slows with age. When production increases, you'll see fewer wrinkles, fine lines and reduced signs of aging.

What can I expect?

Filler is very safe and effective and most patients notice initial results right after treatment, with full results seen a few days after treatment when the swelling goes down. Before treatment, we'll go over your medical history and will recommend a treatment plan. If possible, avoid alcohol the week of treatment--this will minimize any swelling post-treatment. We also will apply a numbing agent, which will vary based on the area of treatment.

After treatment, there's no downtime. You could go right back to work, but you will notice swelling that typically increases within a few hours of treatment. It goes down within 24-48 hours, but can last up to two weeks. We do ask that after treatment you do not do any strenuous activity or workouts. You can, and it won't hurt you, but it might elongate your swelling period.

Does getting filler hurt?

Many people are afraid that filler hurts or stops you from having feeling in whatever part of the body where it is injected. This is not true. You will still have feelings in your lips, cheeks, chin or wherever you choose to have it injected.

Prior to every treatment, we numb the skin either with a topical cream or with an injection of lidocaine. Getting filler might feel a little uncomfortable, but our patients overwhelmingly report that it feels like a pinch. So many patients put off getting filler in fear that it hurts, but after they get it,  they're upset they waited for so long because it is so painless.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of filler are minimal and minor. Typically, they resolve within a few hours to 24-48 hours of treatment. Most people experience a small amount of bleeding post-treatment from the injection. Patients may also experience bruising, swelling, soreness at injection site, and lumps and bumps. These side effects typically resolve in a few days, but can last up to two weeks. Some patients report itching. This is most common in patients who request and receive larger amounts of filler. Less common side effects include a rash, discoloration and in very rare cases, some patients experience infection. To reduce the risk of infection, we recommend practicing good hygiene, keep the area of injection clean for 24 hours, and do not wear make up 24 hour post injection.
