PEELS

Chemical Peels are exfoliating acids applied to the skin in layers to stimulate natural cell turn over and stimulate the growth of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans. Chemical Peels differ by the skin condition and skin layer being treated. This process combats aging skin, hyperpigmentation, Melasma, Rosacea, sensitive skin, acne, scarring, and brightens/tightens the skin promoting overall skin health.

Many of our peels have reduced downtime with the same effectiveness as peels that slough the skin. These treatments work through exfoliation at a cellular level that are not apparent to the naked eye. Our peels range from light to advanced. The treatment level will be determined by your practitioner after a skin assessment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens to my face after a chemical peel?

Skin will start to peel within 2-3 days and may continue to peel for 5-10 days. Many of our peels have reduced downtime with the same effectiveness as peels that slough the skin. These treatments work through exfoliation at a cellular level not apparent to the naked eye. You should not wash your face 6 hours after a peel or wear make up for 24 hours after a peel.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are a great way to combat aging skin, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, acne, & scarring. They improve the skin's tone and texture, improve discoloration caused by sun damage and can clear up breakouts. Not only do they help your skin look better within just hours, but the benefits also continue for weeks after. This is because chemical peels stimulate collagen production.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

Peels are most effective when used as a series spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Several peels may be needed to achieve the results you desire. However, even with just one peel, you'll see dramatic results, including a reduction in fine lines, a more even skin tone, reduced melasma and less scarring.

What are the side effects? Can I get a chemical peel if I'm pregnant?

The side effects of a chemical peel are minimal. You might notice during the procedure that your skin feels tight, itchy or warm. Our aestheticians will make sure that you're never in pain during the process and will be closely monitoring your skin and its reaction to ensure that you're only seeing benefits. After the treatment, you'll notice your skin will peel (very mildly) for 1-2 days or up to a week.

Additionally, our aestheticians do a full assessment of your skin and your health history prior to giving the peel to ensure the peel will treat problem areas and to determine what peel is best for your skin type. Were there any concerns, they would bring them up to you and consult with our physicians to ensure treatment is appropriate. We do not recommend chemical peels for women who are pregnant. Please advise your aesthetician prior to your appointment if you are pregnant.
