WAXING

Waxing is one of the best ways to get rid of unwanted hair. It takes less time than shaving, the results last longer, and over time, the hair that grows back in your treatment area will be finer. Our aestheticians make sure the waxing is as painless as can be, carefully assessing your skin tone and type throughout the procedure to ensure best results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will my hair grow back darker or thicker than before if I wax?

Many people are afraid that after they get a wax, their hair will retaliate and grow back thicker or darker than it was before. Many assume this because it has happened with shaving. That's not the case with waxing. Not only does a wax last longer, in most cases, the the hair will grow back with the same tone and texture and color, but many people say the hair that grows back is finer than it was before. Waxing is low maintenance--if you decide to do it once and you hate it, you don't have to get it again and won't experience any adverse results.

What kind of waxing is popular with men?

Waxing knows no gender--our services are great for both men and women. However, there are some services we notice are far more popular with men. Brows, back and chest hair are top services for our male clientele. However, our male patients are also interested in leg and arm waxing, particularly those who are into competitive sports like swimming, biking and running. Hair can chafe and cause irritation for anyone who is active, so we're seeing more men come in looking for solutions.

Does waxing hurt?

Yes-let's be honest. Waxing is not pain-free, and it is more painful depending on the size of the waxing area, the sensitivity of the area being waxed and how much hair you have and how coarse it is. It also depends on your threshold of pain. The more hair you have and the more coarse it is--for example, in a bikini area--the more painful it will be. Our aestheticians will work with you to make sure that you are comfortable and will provide a topical gel or oil to stop redness and pain if it is needed.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of waxing are minimal. During the waxing treatment, you'll likely feel some pain and perhaps even an itching sensation depending on how sensitive your skin is. Right after the treatment, you might have red, puffy or inflammed skin, which is normal. Some people have blotchy skin or what appears to be a rash. Typically, this dissapates within 10-15 minutes. If not, by applying some ice or a hydrocortisone cream, this will go away within a few hours.   It's perfectly normal for the treated areas to be a little sensitive and red, but that will last just a short time.
